{"id":308,"date":"2012-02-11T16:29:23","date_gmt":"2012-02-11T22:29:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.alandmoore.com\/blog\/?p=308"},"modified":"2012-02-11T16:30:21","modified_gmt":"2012-02-11T22:30:21","slug":"first-recording-with-my-new-setup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alandmoore.com\/blog\/2012\/02\/11\/first-recording-with-my-new-setup\/","title":{"rendered":"First recording with my new setup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Finally got some time last night to do a little recording on <a title=\"Reviving my home studio, this time the free software way\" href=\"https:\/\/alandmoore.com\/blog2\/2012\/01\/11\/reviving-my-home-studio-this-time-the-free-software-way\/\">my Lubuntu\/ardour setup<\/a>.\u00a0 I wasn&#8217;t doing anything serious, just wanted to lay down some sounds to experiment with software, workflow, and getting a good sound out of my new cajon.<\/p>\n<p>The result is <a title=\"Henry Purcell hits Jamaica, mon.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.alandmoore.com\/lc\/aud\/purcell-mon.mp3\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.\u00a0 No sequencing or drum programming going on (obviously), just laid down one track at a time into Ardour and mixed down with a handful of plugins.\u00a0 The lead synth is nekobee running through a parametric eq and rotary speaker sim, recorded live into Ardour.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m pretty happy with what it can do, though I still feel like the workflow with Jack\/Ardour is a little cumbersome.\u00a0 My hardware is kind of flaky too, sadly.\u00a0 Still, there&#8217;s something that inspires me more about working with duct-tape and baling wire than with some shiny turnkey system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Finally got some time last night to do a little recording on my Lubuntu\/ardour setup.\u00a0 I wasn&#8217;t doing anything serious, just wanted to lay down some sounds to experiment with software, workflow, and getting a good sound out of my new cajon.
